Canberra Secretariat

The Canberra Secretariat with a full time Chief Executive Officer administers and manages all major initiatives and programs as directed by its Executive and Council.

Peter Russo, Chief Executive Officer, began in the position of CEO in January 2007. Peter has many years of experience working for ASTA both as President, Councilor and President of the South Australian Science Teachers Association.

Delese Brewster, National Science Week Project Officer, has been with ASTA since 2005 and works on a part-time basis. Her duties are varied and include the production of the National Science Week Resource book and Kit and the coordination of the National Science Week State Representatives.

Josie West, Publications Manager has been in the office since February 2009. Josie has a number of different roles within ASTA, including producing the Teaching Science journal along with the maintenance of the ASTA website. Josie is also the CONASTA Facilitator and can answer any questions you may have about CONASTA. 

Michelle Lollback is the Office Manager, she is your first point of contact when ringing the ASTA office. Michelle is also the office coordinator for SPECTRA and TESEP and can answer any questions you may have. Michelle has been at ASTA since 2010.

Nigel Mitchell was appointed as ASTAs Online Learning Manager in 2011. He works from his home in Adelaide and is in charge of 'ASTA Online' as well as ASTAs social media presence.

Merelyn Southwell-Keely, Accounts Officer, has been with ASTA since January 2007. She manages the ASTA accounts and reports to the Executive and Council. She currently works on a Wednesday.
