School Laboratory Technicians Report and Forum
ASTA is hosting an invitation-only forum to be held at the Mercure Hotel, Sydney of Thursday 8 July 2010. Funding for the forum was provided by DEEWR.
The forum will focus on the role of and support structures for school laboratory technicians in secondary schools and is a direct result of a research report prepared for the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR) by Professor Mark Hackling of Edith Cowan University. The report, The Status of School Science Laboratory Technicians in Australian Secondary Schools (Hackling M, 2009), was conducted in collaboration with the Australian Science Teachers Association (ASTA) and Science Education Technicians Australia (SETA) and can be downloaded from this page.
Representation at the forum will include state and territory education jurisdictions, SETA, ASTA, DEEWR, the Australian Secondary Principals Association (ASPA) and the Australian Curriculum and Reporting Authority (ACARA).
