Congratulations to the following schools in each state and territory who have received school grants to conduct science activities within their schools during National Science Week 2008 16-24 August.

‘Afternoon of the Notable Scientists’ – Stage 3 students research and investigate scientists from various fields and present themselves as experts demonstrating their skills and knowledge to students, teachers, parents and community.
Northern Beaches Secondary College – Manly Selective Campus
Science Techno Museum – All Year 8 students, working in small teams, choose an item or process of technology and research the history of its development, the science behind it and its impact on society. Teams produce a display or presentation.
Mandurama Public School
The Science Faculty at Blayney High School will co-ordinate the activities using the theme ‘Earth, Fire, Wind and Water’.
Orange Christian School
A Science Expo - a series of static and interactive displays set up be year 7-12 classes for K-12 students, parents and community. Also, a challenge to design a kite or moving ‘vehicle’ that can travel a distance.

Whole school science fair and community day. All students rotate through science experiments with teacher and parent assistance. Day will culminate with student presentation of findings in a public assembly.

Science tabloid afternoon. Activities include sedimentary rocky road, fossil making, volcano and earthquake demonstrations, experiments with heat and greenhouse gases, microbe study and paper recycling. Parents and community encouraged to come along and be involved.
